Web site and Web application development is at the core of what we do. Whether you are looking for a turn-key solution or simply need help with a visual redesign, we have the skills and experience to help. In addition to the initial strategic planning (see the section on Strategic Services), most Web projects involve the following main steps or components:
i. Information Architecture (IA) - This is where we determine how your site is going to be organized and how users will navigate to the information they want. IA activities include the development of both site maps and wire frames.
ii. Visual Interface Design (VID) - This is where we develop a series of different visual "look and feel" composites of what the site may look like. It is important to ensure that any online visual representations properly extend your brand online. There should be consistency in color, typography, logo usage, shape usage, and messaging.
iii. Design Technology Development (DTD) - This is where the selected visual design is transformed into elements that a Web browser can display. It involves slicing up the design and creating Web optimized images and digital assets that are then assembled into either HTML templates or coded into a dynamic display templates used by application servers (ASP, JSP, CFM, H5, etc.). Initial quality control testing is performed on all templates prior to the assembly/build phase.
iv. Assembly/Build - This is where the templates and other digital assets are combined with your site content to create the final Web site. This phase may also involve loading databases with content and linking in any other application components or third-party modules.
v. E-Commerce Integration - If the site includes an online storefront there are also another series of tasks that involve setting up the commerce components (SSL Certificates, Payment Gateways, Merchant Terminal ID's, etc.) along with loading products into the database. Additional tasks may involve prepping product photography, entering in pricing information, volume discounts, coupon setup, inventory levels, or other commerce related elements.
vi. Final QA and Launch - This is where your site is run through a final series of quality assurance (QA) checks and is scheduled for launch.
